Our Start
Hi !!
We are Doug & Glory Janes from Tulsa, OK. We are Christians that believe that the Holy Bible is Gods true word, divinely inspired by God. Doug is from Tulsa,OK U.S.A. and Glory is from India. Through God's will and a small miracle, we were able to meet, and on April 11, 2005 we were married. We have 3 children. 1 daughter, and 2 twin boys.
We from the beginning always loved the idea of being able to help others in need, and just a few years ago had the idea of rounding up a little extra money we had with the help of some family members to help the children of a small orphanage in India to have a nice feast and Christmas message. It was a great hit! and was done for so little. This little event gave us such a good feeling inside and we felt encouraged to do so much more. And this was the beginning of "Open Arms Christian Foundation".
We for the most part concentrate our efforts in areas of India because there is such a great need for God’s word and people to know Christ with only about 3% of the population being Christian. Also with so much poverty and need, this gives us a great opportunity to bring the word of God to them while helping with clothes, food, and furnishings. We mostly help children and orphanages, but also as we can with the elderly, and giving a helping hand up to small struggling Christian churches in rural tribal areas that have so little interior furnishings or comforts such as fans, chairs for sitting, rugs, and electricity with lighting.
When funds are available we additionally supply them with a small P.A. system for all to hear sitting around outside the church. On occasion we will be having Christian revivals in the outer tribal areas with the help of the small area churches. These are known for attracting many people and bringing them to Christ because of the great spiritual hunger that is not being met elsewhere. About every 2-3 years, we are able to go to India ourselves to visit family, and get more ideas for organizing future events, and attend events ourselves. We pray that God will allow this to happen more often. Until then, we have wonderful family & friends as foundation members that dedicate and donate their hard work and time for our cause.
We are also blessed with local family and friends around us donating their time and effort to help those in need right here in Tulsa, OK. We at times have the opportunity to deliver food and clothing to struggling families in our own area, as well as making homemade breakfasts and dinners for the homeless. We are able to use a local shelter to serve them, and at times we will serve right out of our van on the streets. There is no area of the world exempt from poverty, and this includes the U.S.A. We might not have as much of it, but if you try, you can definitely find it.
So now officially under "Open Arms Christian Foundation", we organized as our official first event, another Christmas special for a small struggling orphanage. You can read all about it, and see the photos on the event pages. Please take some time to see it ! So much was done for so little money. Just imagine what we can do if just a few more people who visit this site feel led by God for this cause.
We pray that you too will feel God speaking to your heart, and want to help us in our efforts.
